Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

The Home Depot Pro Quality Engineer has responsibility for ensuring consistency of technical and quality aspects of THD Pro s private brand product lines to include products within the builder s hardware, plumbing, electrical, lighting, safety, HVAC, and Jan-San product categories.

This position is based out of Jacksonville, FL.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 30% - Complaint Resolution: Receive and review quality complaints and coordinate complaint resolutions through CAR processes to include performing investigations, defining solutions and follow-up via corrective action processes, etc.
  • 30% - Post Onboarding: Assist management with the monitoring of product return metrics, to include coordinating meetings with merchants and private brand managers to address and resolve vendor and product deficiencies.
  • 20% - Regulatory Compliance: Administrate various regulatory programs to identify requirements including compliance with applicable laws, codes, standards, etc. Assist with the administration of related compliance certifications, approvals and listings for private brand products.
  • 10% - Product Onboarding: Assist product engineers with product line reviews, private brand engineering projects and benchmark testing, as required.
  • 10% - Product Recalls: Assist with CPSC, manufacturer s and self-direct product recalls.

This position reports to the Senior Quality Assurance Manager.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
ENVIRONMENT:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Conditions could produce mild discomfort on occasion.
TRAVEL:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 years
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience working in a technical quality capacity specifically to identify and correct product, vendor and process deficiencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ideal candidates may have retail hardware store experience or a working knowledge of common household systems and products such as toilets, dishwashers, faucets, disposers, lighting, electrical, dryers, washers, hand tools, etc.
  • Ideal candidates may have prior experience working with service providers.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in areas such as plastics, metals, and textiles.
  • Ideal candidates may have demonstrated proficiency using MS Access.
  • ASQ, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Process Improvement certifications are desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable CAD application.
  • Must be an MS Office products power user for Word, Excel, Outlook, and be able to perform web-searches.
  • Candidates should possess superior problem solving skills and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate shall be a self-starter with an aptitude for coordinating multiple tasks and projects.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with merchants, customers, sales and domestic and international vendors/colleagues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and be dedicated to completing tasks on time.
  • Should have familiarity with basic best practices regarding regulatory test standards and test methodologies, failure & root-cause analysis, and general manufacturing processes to include injection molding, die casting, stamping/forming, machining, etc.
  • Must be a team player, committed to achieving personal, departmental, and corporate goals and objectives. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Must have reliable transportation, as travel to satellite offices can be a daily need.
