TEST AUTOMATION ARCHITECT (R-TS)

Rite Aid is seeking a Test Automation Architect to provide hands-on technical leadership for automation testing team by designing and architecting automation frameworks and will facilitate support and adoption of the framework across QA teams in the organization. The ideal candidate cares deeply about efficiency in the quality engineering process and has demonstrated experience leveraging industry-leading tools and frameworks to deliver complete automated test suites.

 

  • Test Automation Architect will have complete ownership and responsibility for designing and implementing the test automation framework that supports test automation for multiple areas of the organization.
  • Ability to implement quantitative test process measurement techniques and adapt automated testing industry best practices and trends to internal needs.
  • Ability to develop a testing strategy that is customized and optimized for the situation at hand and communicate it effectively to stakeholders (Risk Based Testing Methodology).
  • Recommends new tools, techniques and methodologies needed to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with QA and Dev teams to strategize & align long term solution for test automation including roadmap, tools, framework & approach.
  • Enhance framework to support UI, web services, cross browser, mobile automation, Visual Testing and Service Virtualization needs.
  • Integrate framework with COTS tools to support end to end automation solutions.
  • Enhance framework to fit in to DevOps platform tools like Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins etc.
  • Extend framework beyond Functional Automation to support areas like Accessibility, Performance and Security Testing.
  • Capable of mentoring and communicating a coherent vision for quality best practices, coding standards, test automation strategy and tool usage.
  • Presents technical documentation for review by peers and Development community.
  • Collaborate with Dev teams to perform code reviews, unit testing and implement Development standards and best practices.
  • Designs and engineers re-usable and modular framework components that can be used by multiple teams in a customizable manner.
  • Direct involvement in efforts to mature agile and DevOps practices for the organization as it relates to test automation, increased quality and delivery optimization.
  • Partner with the various software infrastructure teams to optimize the CI/CD pipeline and implement quality gates to support DevOps.
  • Responds appropriately and competently to the demands of work challenges when confronted with changes, ambiguity, adversity, and other pressures.
  • Continuously improve the QA process and tools by utilizing LEAN concepts (Kaizen, Standard Work, Gemba Walk).
  • Implement and maintain metrics for assessing the quality of the delivered project, analyze trends, research anomalies, and summarize findings.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)  Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or 8+ years of progressive technology experience required.
  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS)   preferred.

Salary Range: $119.8k - $184k

  •  8+ years of experience in software quality assurance, quality engineering, or testing required. 
  • 3+ years working as Test Automation Architect (or similar), including proven experience of designing and implementing Automation Testing framework supporting UI/Web/Mobile/Web services and Database Testing required.
  • Experience working on accessibility, performance and security testing is preferred. 
  • Strong software development skills (preferably in Python, Java, JavaScript) and technical architecture skills required.
  • Experienced in implementing unit test/API/functional and QA frameworks using Agile methodologies like BDD/TDD preferred.
  • Hands on experience developing several types of automation frameworks from scratch leveraging open source/commercial tools like Selenium, Appium, TestNG, Junit, Cucumber/Gherkin, Rest Assured or equivalent web-service automation tool, Git, Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD tools, SonarQube or equivalent code quality tool, Defect tracking tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps required.
  • Familiar with cloud resources (GCP, Azure) and tech (containerization, pipelines).
  • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards and being an active participant in code reviews. 
  • Capable of mentoring and communicating a coherent vision for quality best practices, coding standards, test automation strategy and tool usage. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities. 
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate across multiple audiences.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and independent with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
