Position Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Manager, Business Unit Accounting position at The Home Depot is a strategic and dynamic role with several key responsibilities, including overseeing the daily operations of accounting for the several non-SAP business units of the company – Crown Bolt, The Company Store, Red Beacon and HDQC.  These include accounting for sales, cost of sales, operating expenses, inventory, cash and intercompany.  The team is responsible for the accounting functions and provides support on the preparation of The Home Depot’s financial statements, and establishes, and maintains accounting practices for GAAP and SOX compliance.  This individual is also responsible for several strategic initiatives as the Company continues to advance its systems and analytic capabilities as it transforms the controllership organization.

This is a high visibility role which partners with several internal and external stakeholders.  This individual is responsible for the leadership and management of a team with a drive for delivering results with a mindset of continuous improvement.

    MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Oversee monthly and year-end close process for assigned areas, and execution of account reconciliations
    • Monitor weekly system interfaces; perform and maintain accruals for inventory and supply chain
    • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements; provide analysis on financial information, including supporting gross margin and expense schedules; distribute and communicate the financial results to appropriate parties
    • Collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams including Business Unit General Manager and Finance, THD Supply Chain Finance, Consolidations and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
    • Define accounting policies and practices and manage compliance; define critical controls, develop, and update process documents, identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness; review process documentation and internal control testing to ensure complianc
    • Assist in significant ad-hoc projects including streamlining existing processes, implementing future state accounting technology and tools, and leading/co-leading accounting workstreams in new business requirements
    • Regular involvement in process improvement, automation, and related efforts
    • Leadership, supervision, and review of a team of Managers, Senior Accountants and/or Project Coordinator(s)
