Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Senior Operations Business Analysts are responsible for leading small to medium subsets of larger projects and initiatives and individual processes that bring value to The Home Depot. They must possess a high level of analytical ability to distinguish multiple components of a problem and develop conclusions using quantitative skills.

Furthermore, this Senior Operations Business Analyst will be tasked with:

  • Conducting labor studies and use process modeling to design an upkeep a model that fits labor hours to customer needs and tasking processes.
  • Using strategic thinking to see the big picture, determine the problem and understand fundamental parts of the problem
  • Preparing and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
  • Building strong cross-functional partnerships, to ensure that his/her recommendations are implemented successfully
  • Reviewing sales/financial analyses data process modeling/analysis of problems, regression analysis
  • Interpreting data based on specific knowledge of statistics and procedures used.
  • Providing data to support decision-making.
  • Providing input on strategy based on knowledge of industry and technology trends.
  • Synthesizing findings and derive conclusions from analyses and make oral/written recommendations to upper management.
  • Executing tasks related to core operations projects and/or process improvements. Execute day-to-day processes related to their areas of responsibility. Communicate issues and roadblocks related to their areas of responsibility.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead Project Teams of Analysts and other associates
  • Perform data gathering tasks, synthesis - develop solutions, project/strategy planning and data utilization
  • Produce documents for teams and leadership to review and utilize. Deliver presentations to teams and executive leaders and sponsors
  • Build skills and knowledge including self-development, team knowledge and customer (internal) knowledge.
  • Deliver presentations to teams and executive leaders and sponsors.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Typically reports to Store Operations Process Manager or Store Operations Business Manager (or Sr. Managers)
  • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS


Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
3 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years work experience in labor, data analytics, process engineering and/or management consulting.
  • An intermediary understanding of SQL, Google bigquery and/or some knowledge of one other scripting/compiled/statistical programming language (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SAS, .NET, C++, Java, etc.)
  • Prior experience with MOST & Queuing modeling
  • Experience building reports/analyses with analytical tools (e.g. Excel, JMP, SAS, Mathematica, SPSS, Tableau, etc.)
  • Prior direct experience in analyzing the relevant subject matter (e.g. Labor, Operations, Supply Chain, Merchandising, etc.)
  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Math, Finance, or related quantitative field.
  • Work experience with MS Excel, MS Access, SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, or comparable database systems.
  • Master’s degree is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Experience leading high performing teams
  • Consulting management and/or project management.
  • Strong quantitative skills such as statistics and data analysis
  • Problem solving
  • Strong Operations, Retail and/or field knowledge
