Position Description:
Position Purpose:
The SR Product Development Analyst acts as a support function to Merchant Product Development through partnership with brand/marketing, merchandising, sourcing offices, global operations and suppliers on all related components that are necessary to drive the execution of global sourcing strategy related to specific merchandising categories. Responsible for on-boarding product in internal tollgate system as well as IDM by working with cross-functional business partners throughout the organization including Business Development, Finance, Sourcing, Inventory Planning and supplier factories. SR Product Development Analyst will conduct internal sales and competitive analyses that help identify assortment strategies for product selection and the overall shopping experience. In this position, the person should seek opportunity for process improvement and partner effectively across multiple functional groups to ensure products are ready for PO placement. They will focus on using data to streamline the customer experience, especially when choosing products, to ensure the customer will be able to get the right product with the right options the first time. This person will help identify issues in products- either in packaging, online or in-store shopping experience and product quality/function- and purpose changes that will increase sales and market share. This position also overseas all aspects of digital content gathering and maintenance in support of the homedepot.com product information. The SR Product Development Analyst is accountable for accurate and complete data capture, data integrity, and maintenance across homedepot.com and its product database.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
  • 25% - Tracks and reports progress towards goals, proactively resolves issues to avoid delays, escalates as required.
  • 25% - Provide market, industry, and competitive expertise and analysis to drive product positioning. Work with cross functional team to provide back-up support on marketing collateral development, new product launches, packaging development, and brand messaging that helps drive revenue and margins.
  • 25% - Provides copy, key words, images, Q&A Answers and marketing language for homedepot.com. Utilizes the THD Online Enrichment Process feedback to enhance product listings on website.
  • 15% - Serve as liaison between Business Development and Supplier Factories. Maintain competitive benchmarking awareness with customers, sales, and marketing.
  • 10% - Develop process and improve upon current internal processes to drive efficiencies for both online data enrichments as well as on-boarding. Participate in project teams to provide input regarding product data changes needed as a result of website or other business changes. Research data issues and errors and partner with IT and business partners to resolve.

    This positions reports to the Associate Product Development Merchant.

    Environmental Job Requirements:
    Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
    Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
