This role provides leadership within the SEC Reporting function and is responsible for supporting the Chief Accounting Officer’s external reporting strategy. This role supports the planning, development and filing of periodic reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including the quality and timely delivery of the quarterly 10-Q’s and annual 10-K (as well as 8-K, 1933 Act registration statements, and other required reporting), as well as collaboration with Investor Relations during their development of earnings materials (earnings release and earnings script). This position is responsible for driving the evolution of various reporting processes through technology innovation and process optimization, while overseeing the completion of our Form 11-K’s (401K financial statements), as well as other domestic and international statutory filings. The filings led by this function are of the most visible and scrutinized public documents and their presentation and accuracy is critical the Home Depot. This role also oversees the preparation of our cash flow statement, as well as various internal reporting deliverables including materials provided directly to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Develop, design, and drive various activities within the external reporting process, including the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting related to disclosures and compliance with SEC rules and regulations.
• Oversee the preparation of our annual Form 11-K filings (401K financial statements) as well as certain other domestic and international statutory filings such as our self-insurance and census reporting.
• Own the overall management of our external reporting software solution, including continued implementation of new functionality, enhancements and best practices.
• Develop best practice project management tools leveraging collaboration software and integrated reporting technologies to continuously improve the management of recurring and unique projects within the group.
• Continually review new SEC and U.S. GAAP guidance, and monitors SEC comment letter trends.
• Act as liaison amongst numerous functional and cross functional business partners including Legal, Investor Relations, Consolidations, Technical Accounting, Finance Business Services, Lease Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Strategic Business Development, HR Benefits, Risk Management and External Audit to ensure the achievement of timely SEC and other statutory filings.
• Review disclosures, assessing technical compliance (adherence to SEC Staff C&DI and FRM), formulating changes to disclosures, communicating requirements and reviewing controls with content providers, analytical review, and question and issue resolution, as well as implementing disclosure requirements and best practices, and coordination of all public offerings.
• Monitor and identify major corporate events, including significant contracts, mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings, borrowing/repayments, etc. and assess SEC disclosure implications.
• Assist with the preparation of materials presented directly to the audit committee by the Chief Accounting Officer.
• Advise and assist investor relations with the design, development, and compliance of our earnings materials (release and script) as well as the resolution of targeted questions coming from outside investors and analysts. 
• Continually manage, coach, and develop team members while contributing to the broader talent development and succession planning within the Corporate Controller’s Team.
