**Job Summary**

We are looking to recruit a Senior

Consultant within the Urban Space team of our Transport Planning Business and in our St Albans/London offices.

Our Transport Planning teams plan and evaluate future transport schemes, forecast demand and revenue, develop business cases, undertake economic appraisal and market analysis, as well as look at the relationships between spatial planning and transport. We undertake transport modelling at a national and regional level right down to detailed micro-simulation where individual roads, public transport systems and crowd movements are analysed.

Our clients include national and local transport authorities such as the UK Department of Transport and Transport for London, major sporting organisations such as the London Olympic Delivery Authority, private developers of land and transport facilities as well as overseas institutions such as the European Commission. We develop and use some of the most sophisticated transport modelling techniques, applying a range of specialist software.

**Specific Skills Required:**

+ Experience using Legion

+ Membership of a relevant professional chartered institute or near to achieving accreditation

**Minimum Requirements**

+ The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in transport planning across several areas, including strong pedestrian modelling experience.

+ Project management (delivering large/medium projects in pedestrian modelling to quality standards, on time, and within budget)

+ Experience of line management and small to medium team management

+ Business Development and proposal preparation

+ Provide specific technical leadership in pedestrian modelling

+ Supervision of workload and support to junior staff

+ The candidate is expected to have good knowledge of pedestrian modelling software such as Legion, Massmotion, Viswalk etc.

+ The successful applicant will be familiar with NR and LUL’s model development and audit processes, and will have in-depth experience of significant model development

+ Experience and understanding of other transport modelling software such as SATURN, CUBE, EMME, VISSIM, VISUM, TUBA, are desirable but not essential

+ We are seeking someone able to manage junior technical staff, undertake project management tasks and communicate clearly with other disciplines and clients on a regular basis.

+ Demonstrates to have developed a sound appreciation of pedestrian modelling with good knowledge of wider transport planning and traffic modelling.

+ Demonstrates confidence and capability to supervise junior staff.

+ Has past experience of managing larger tasks or small / medium size projects.

+ Demonstrates knowledge of project budgetary issues and capable of delivering work to time and budget.

+ Experience of presenting to large audiences

+ Leadership in producing quality client reports to a high technical standard.

+ Capability to manage client contact and liaison without supervision

+ Involvement with broader business development activity and raising of the team’s and company’s profile

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Degree/Masters qualification in an analytical subject (e.g. mathematics, economics, engineering).

+ Membership of a relevant professional chartered institute or near to achieving accreditation
