Position Description:

The Regional Rental Equipment Manager (RREM) for the Pac Mountain Desert Region leads Delivery Service Technicians, Mobile Service Technicians and Lead Rental Technicians in the Pac Mountain Desert states (Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico). The RREM ensures the execution and optimization of business objectives and operational/financial plans to ensure regional profitability and commitments to customers. This position requires extensive travel within the region.

Final Candidate Must Reside in: Denver, CO or Phoenix, AZ

Primary Responsibilities:

Drives overall operations of the Region, including personnel management, equipment maintenance and repair, rental performance of the fleet, Home Depot store and associate relationships, equipment delivery, revenue and expense control, and any other key performance areas as defined by the Divisional Manager or Director.

  • Hires and trains support staff, including Lead Rental Technicians (LRTs), Mobile Service Technicians (MSTs), Delivery Service Technicians (DSTs), and Shop Techs with the help of Division Rental Manager and Human Resources team
  • Conducts annual performance reviews, as well as, ongoing performance conversations and documentation for all employees in the Region
  • Manages labor of field technicians to ensure appropriate technician coverage throughout the Region, including creation of work schedules and on call assignments, and management of employee overtime
  • Develops and maintains effective and cooperative long-term relationships with associates within The Home Depot, including tool rental associates, department heads, store managers, and district managers
  • Provides for and schedules training for THD store associates on THDR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as, equipment operation and product knowledge
  • Conducts store walks to audit stores’ overall adherence to THDR SOPs, including check-out/check-in of tools, qualification of the customer for the right machine, and presentation of the line-up (appearance of fleet, security, and signage).
  • Works collaboratively with THD Store Managers and Department Heads to maximize the rental opportunity for THDR through optimal parking lot staging locations of the line-up
  • Manages operational compliance of all tech work performed in the Region, including store inspections, lift inspections, preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, equipment deliveries, and new equipment deployment
  • Monitors performance of the rental fleet to ensure each unit is achieving its budgeted targets for revenue and profitability.
  • Manages equipment maintenance and repair for the Region, ensuring that all fleet in assigned stores is properly maintained to maximize the rental-readiness and utilization of the equipment.
  • Recommends and executes fleet optimization moves at specific store locations to improve the fleet mix and overall performance, including adding units that are in high demand, transferring underperforming units out of the stores, or selling aging equipment that is prone to breakdowns
  • Conducts ride-alongs with technicians to audit the overall quality of work, and to observe, reinforce, or improve specific patterns of behavior
  • Reviews daily Down Equipment Report, and works with LRTs, MSTs, and Shop Techs to keep their Percent of Units Down (PUD) and Average Days Down (ADD) in line with company targets
  • Uses their mechanical knowledge and best practices to train and support LRTs, MSTs, DSTs, and Shop Techs who repair, preventatively maintain, and/or make customer deliveries of the equipment
  • Ensures all equipment deliveries and pick-ups are completed within scheduled time windows by DSTs and other personnel with the goal of creating an extraordinary customer experience
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate whole goods and parts inventories for the Region, by ensuring that inventory management procedures are followed by all technicians, including execution of equipment transfers, parts orders, parts transfers, and correct usage of work orders to relieve parts from inventory on service calls
  • Leads the team to fully embrace, fully comply with, and effectively use required technology and processes for proper documentation of all work performed
  • Ensures that company vehicles, computer tablets, laptops, phones and any and all other equipment used personally and by his/her team is maintained within company and DOT guidelines
  • Reviews all regional employee credit card charges to ensure all charges are valid and within company guidelines
  • Promotes a safe work environment, safe driving practices, and works to reduce/eliminate work-related injuries
  • Additional responsibilities added as required by the Divisional Manager or Director
