Position Description:

Position Purpose

The Project Leader, Workforce Development, is responsible for creating and expanding comprehensive workforce development strategies and programs, to provide an increased opportunity of jobs in the home improvement industry. The team will focus on the growth and successfulness of skilled trades training programs (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians) and fueling talent for the THD professional contractors (Pros).  This position works closely with all levels of leadership throughout The Home Depot, as well as external and community partners and government entities. 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and launch scalable solutions to expand and improve the skilled labor talent pool.
  • Manage and execute a program to connect graduates to both short-term work experience and full-time career placement.
  • Communicate and support recruiting programs to change the message on skilled labor, encouraging youth to pursue careers in the industry.
  • Develop engagement strategies and data analyses that helps drive a deeper understanding of our customers to drive incremental growth and engagement within the workforce development space.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with other companies and support programs in the workforce development space.  Extract actionable insights and implement best practices.
  • Partner with appropriate teams to build external messaging and content to promote what THD is doing in this space.
  • Devise and implement an appropriate set of metrics to measure the success of the strategy and provide a base from which to constantly improve and develop performance.
  • Complete other projects and work as prescribed by Talent Acquisition and Workforce Development leadership.

     Nature and Scope

    • Typically reports to Senior Manager, Workforce Development.
    • This Role does not have direct reports.

      ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

      Environment:

      Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

      Travel:

      Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

      ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
      • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
