**Job Summary**

We are currently looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer with proven post degree qualification experience in electrical engineering to work within the AECOM Building Services located in our London office. A Principal Electrical Engineer will be involved in the design of building services and the production of contract documentation quite often leading or playing a key role in a multi disciplinary effort. The successful candidate will be preferably chartered, or as a minimum working towards Chartership, and have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with an electrical engineering / building services degree, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and looking to advance their career.

About the office:

We have recently moved to a brand new office space in the newly built Aldgate Tower which is a short walk from Liverpool Street or Fenchurch Street stations, as well as being a central point from multiple tube lines.

This newly built office space holds around 800 technical Engineering staff from various sectors including Transport, Power, Energy, Bridges and Buildings. The Buildings team consists of around 400 Engineers who work large scale construction projects and focus on projects specialisms in London and across the world. Some of the sectors we specialise in are; stadia, major commercial build and fit out projects, large mixed used developments and historical/listed Buildings. This is a great opportunity to play a significant part on future construction projects in some major cities across Europe and the world.

About the role:

The role of a Principal Engineer is an all-encompassing position related to Building Services Design. We would expect a Principal Engineer to be comfortable with receiving a brief from Senior Management and assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the Project Manager and be able to manage single disciplinary and multi-disciplinary projects.

You should be comfortable in creating specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA stages. attend progress, design team and co-ordinate meetings. In addition to this attendance at tender/client interviews, site inspection meetings are required to ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Program. You will have an input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.

A Competent understanding with electrical engineering calculations (Amtech, Dialux, Hevacomp) is essential as well as the ability to obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants. Good communication skills are essential as you will be a key liaison between clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design to identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients.

**Minimum Requirements**

* An Electrical Engineer or Building Services Engineer.

* Relevant experience in Electrical Engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles including low voltage distribution, lighting etc

* A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example: Commercial office projects (shell & core and fit-out), Residential and Retail.

* Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

* A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and a member of a professional Institution or close to achieving professional chartered status.

* Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate.

* Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.

* Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients is essential.

**Preferred Qualifications**

* A good technical understanding of electrical building services for commercial and residential developments

* A graduate in electrical engineering, building services or similar discipline.

* A masters degree in a related discipline.
