Our Northeast studio is actively seeking a dynamic Director of Interiors for our Buildings + Places business unit and will functions as the practice leader to lead, inspire and build the interiors practice in the Northeast market.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


+ Provides strategic vision and day-to-day administration of the Interiors group

+ Responsible for development and execution of goals, business plan and profitability, aligning efforts with regional and national business unit plans and goals

+ Works with upper management to support brand messaging which is consistent and present with the client, the internal design studio, and the design community

+ Maintains action plan for all Interiors projects and conducts regular review sessions with appropriate personnel

+ Supervises the production of drawings and documents, oversees design quality control on all projects

+ Manages fee proposals and workload projections for projects

+ Works closely with project managers to identify budget and schedule constraints, supports project profitability

+ Oversees the implementation and quality of the group’s documentation of the design for projects

+ Understands and enforces conditions of client contracts, and understands scope of work and where appropriate seek additional services

+ Ability to think strategically, implement change, enforce policy and resolve conflict

Leadership/Staff Development

+ Serves as a mentor by coaching design teams and individuals; grows and develops the group and individual members

+ Responsible for performance development, prepare and deliver staff evaluations, and determine workload allocation

+ Participates in interviews and recruiting of professional staff and build appropriate staff levels

+ Encourages staff exploration and innovation to achieve project design excellence and continual improvement for the achievement of original design ideas and concepts

+ Keeps abreast of new technology, materials, methods and developments in his/her specific field

+ Maintains membership and activity in appropriate industry organizations and be an active member of the design community

Business Development

+ Leads the development and execution of the Interior’s marketing strategy at the local and regional business unit level collaborating with regional leadership and other market sectors leaders

+ Identifies new business opportunities and grow; current client relationships including early client interaction, scope of work development and interviews

+ Ensures positive client, consultant, contractor and jurisdictional satisfaction, grows our presence in the market

+ Works with marketing team in development of marketing material and proposal preparation

+ Coordinates with marketing to promote the design studio through submission of works for industry awards

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture required

+ 15+ years of experience with a large Interiors or Architectural firm, with at least 10 years as Senior Level Interior Designer; design and/or project management experience for commercial interiors required

+ Experience in design, design development and project leadership for all sizes of interior design projects

+ Strong knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment, interior finishes, lighting, signage, color and materials

+ Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets, resulting in project profitably

+ Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with external clients

+ Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines

+ Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM)

+ Preferred proficiency in the following computer skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software

+ Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills including both verbal/presentation and written

+ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

+ Be able to respond to changing demands

+ Strong leadership and team building skills with strong initiative

+ Ability to work under pressure

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master’s degree in related field

+ Knowledge of Revit

+ NCIDQ certification

+ Registered Architect

+ For Registered Architects, NCARB registration preferred

+ LEED accredited professional with sustainability and/or wellness experience
