POSITION PURPOSE
This position manages people and processes related to the development of advanced analytics to support the company’s strategic objectives.  The role works cross-functionally with business partners from Merchandising, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Online and IT to design and implement data analytics, tools, and new visibility/reporting capabilities. This role has responsibility for creating analytics, translating business questions to actionable insights, supporting ongoing analytical needs, designing new analytical platforms, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality analytics solutions for the Home Depot. This role is expected to leverage effective communication skills to translate complex analyses into understandable insights, with a passion to learn and develop.

Decision Analytics (“DA”) is one of the largest and most seasoned analytics organizations at Home Depot.  Our model as a Center of Excellence provides associates with the unique opportunities to work directly with different functions within the organization and build data driven solutions to support the company’s key strategic initiatives.  As a centralized team, we are nimble and select projects based on enterprise priority and fit for data science. Our data scientists are involved in all facets of the project from problem identification, coding & model building, presentations to senior leadership, product development and more.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

• Collaborate with stakeholders, business partners, colleagues, developers, and business analysts to understand business problem and deliver high quality analytics solutions
• Project Management - Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams in an efficient manner to effectively execute analytical projects or processes
• Storytelling and advanced problem solving
• Data analytics with large volumes of data, including data cleansing, validation, testing
• Use of wide variety of database applications / analytical tools including SQL, SAS, R, and python
• Enhancements / modifications to systems and procedures; Supporting end users, problem solving, troubleshooting

  • This position typically reports to a Senior Manager or Director and may supervise one or more analysts.
