Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager, Pricing Strategy will provide strategic guidance, subject matter expertise, project management, and analytical support for pricing recommendations and decisions made by the merchandising organization. This position is responsible for being a thought leader in pricing and should be seen by merchants as a strategic partner in this area. The Manager will advise merchants and the Pricing Team on available pricing levers to drive category performance and designing and execute strategic priorities. The Manager will support corporate level pricing initiatives throughout the organization. The Manager should be an advocate for implementing pricing best practices across the portfolio of categories and provide guidance and support to Managers, Senior Analysts and Contractors as part of the team.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-50%-Develop relationships with cross functional partners to collaborate and to determine company goals and objectives, conduct standard and ad hoc analysis to identify key drivers of performance, recommend pricing decisions and strategies that will improve category performance and develop financial plans that reflect pricing changes.
Typical analysis will include: (a) marketplace and macroeconomic trends impacting the category including competitive assessment, (b) customer segmentation and responsiveness (c) line structure and line structure engineering, (d) localization, including defining pricing zone definition, (e) promotional effectiveness, (f) transaction and basket penetration, (g) consumer psychology.
Develop executive-level presentations that summarize analysis including historical performance, strategic rationale underpinning pricing decisions and expected financial impact.
Report out to all levels of management. Accountable for accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, timeliness and viability of recommendations.
-50%-Develop the necessary communication to leadership to gain alignment and partner with IT and other cross functional teams to prioritize efforts that support the execution of strategies.
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.
NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to Sr Manager Pricing
 
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 4 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Preferred Qualifications:

MBA or other relevant advanced degree
Prior experience in Pricing or Management Consulting 
Strong analytical skills including demonstrated aptitude with financial analysis and ability to generate insight from large and complex data sets 
Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively articulate viewpoint to executive leadership and ability to write compelling executive level presentations 
Strong project management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously 
Strong financial acumen including experience with the retail and cost methods of accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Tableau
