Position Description:
Position Purpose:

This Logistics Manager will lead the execution of critical transportation operations to our stores and field, and support the implementation of large cross-functional Transportation and Supply Chain initiatives.

The Logistics Manager will analyze key transportation and supply chain dynamics to achieve operational objectives. The Logistics Manager will provide superior customer service-levels. They will have direct ownership of key service metrics and a large transportation P&L. Must leverage carrier relation skills, analytical skills, and critical thinking to execute and develop solutions for transportation operations and projects. Develop key relationships with transportation service providers and cross-functional partners to operate and optimize The Home Depot’s transportation network, supply chain, and end-to-end business. Must bring strong leadership skills, an innovative mindset, positive attitude, and the ability to create an energized work environment for the team

This role is currently supporting the execution of One Supply Chain – BDC/FDC Outbound operations, including Store and Field Support, Dedicated Fleet Management, Backhaul Expansion and Optimization, support of new BIFC operations, and the execution of Flatbed Messenger (a newly launched public marketplace for flatbed transportation) with a leading digital freight broker and technology provider. The Logistics Manager will collaborate with Stores, Distribution, Finance, Merchandising, Channel Management, Business Intelligence, Analytics, vendors, transportation carriers, and other Transportation teams on a regular basis.

Must be motivated, detail oriented, able to support and lead multiple projects, possess excellent communication skills, work well with a team, interact with multiple levels and functions within the Logistics organization, and able to manage vendor/business relationships.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:
Develops solutions that leverage the Company' s volumes, systems and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management in order to achieve efficient product distribution.
Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.
Advises IS and system users in the development and implementation of logistics systems improvements and changes.
Responds to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors.
Tests vendor software packages to identify potential shortcomings; ascertains vendors' ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications.

Reports to Sr. Manager, Director Sr. Director or VP
Typically requires interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
Typically considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems.
Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

Environmental Job Requirements:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.
