Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager, Branded Merchandise for The Home Depot oversees the overall branded merchandise promotional business, for both the associate and consumer – online and in-store experience. This position will play a key role in tracking consumer and purchase trends to provide insight to maximize the product mix and drive innovation of new products.  The Manager, Branded Merchandise will increase consumer engagement, ultimately, delivering sustainable and profitable financial growth.  He/She will unlock all relevant channels of distribution through marketing efforts to deliver full category potential.  The Manager, Branded Merchandise will implement process improvements and efficiencies and manage relationships with vendors and internal customers on special order items.

 MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Partner with Sr. Director to establish the overall strategy and product mix for the branded merchandise portfolio by channel. Deliver sustainable and profitable financial growth for the overall branded merchandise category.  (30%)
  • Oversee SKU rationalization, bi-annual refreshes and new product development around uniquely inspired merchandise in partnership with vendor. (20%)
  • Execute all internal and external marketing, communication and social media for branded merchandise to increase excitement/associate engagement. Bring The Home Depot brand to life in consistent, yet creative ways. (20%)
  • Manage day-to-day aspects of in-store experience; on-board and supervise vendor in-store associate. (20%)
  • Track consumer and purchase trends to provide insight to maximize the product mix and recommend new products. (10%)

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 20% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree. 
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 8 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Bachelor’s degree Business, Marketing or Communications, MBA a plus.
  • Track record of success and achievement demonstrated in promotional products, merchandising or a related field, a plus.
  • 8+ years retail experience with a CPG.
  • Relationship management with vendors, agencies, and business partners
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze and interpret data to create reports
  • Demonstrates learning agility, strong thinking and analytical skills. Ability to get up to speed with new processes/procedures and able to adapt readily to change
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills
  • Promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
  • Ability to plan and manage schedules for multiple tasks
  • Ability to influence a cross-functional team and peers and work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years' experience with marketing and/or branding a plus 
  • Creative thinker that can proactively identify brand opportunities, design trends, and select quality merchandise 
  • Business acumen and process improvement skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Effective relationship builder; ability to partner cross-functionally and work effectively with various levels of the organization 
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task
