Staples Technical Operations & Cloud Engineering Team provides resilient and efficient infrastructure for the business applications as well as associated critical support of these platforms. We continuously maximize our value through optimizing our efficiencies, expanding abilities, improving agility, and skillsets of the team to best support evolving business requirements. Technology Operations and Cloud Engineering (TOCE) is responsible for the Architecture, Engineering, and Operations of Staples core IT infrastructure, network, telephony, and collaboration platforms. Additionally, the team supports Staples eCommerce platforms and nearly 200 locations including corporate, sales offices, and supply chain facilities across North America as well as 1102 US Retail stores from a network and telephony perspective.

**Your Role**

Enterprise Tools Engineering is a team of full-stack engineers that architect, implement, and manage application performance monitoring and automation solutions across Staples. The Software Engineer will innovate and deliver enterprise monitoring tools used in support of B2C and B2B platforms as well as back-end supply chain and fulfillment platforms/applications. They will also provide input into Staples strategic tools roadmap, including evaluating both COTS and Open Source alternatives and identifying requirements for hardware, software, and technical resources.

**What Youll Do**

+ Build/integrate/manage enterprise tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, PagerDuty, etc.

+ Proactively perform analysis and identify opportunities to innovate, automate, improve efficiency, and achieve cost savings leveraging technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Chef/Ansible/Puppet, etc.

+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology, business processes and practices to continually improve applications and systems processes.

+ Provide input for capacity planning to ensure proper infrastructure is in place for our monitoring tools.

+ Seek improvements in performance, stability and scalability of enterprise tools.

**Who You Are**

You are an innovative problem solver who is passionate about using technology to drive the business while working as part of a collaborative, agile team. You have a quality first mindset and a strong working knowledge of multiple web technologies, micro services, public and private cloud, and state-of-the-art monitoring tools technologies.


**The Skills You Bring**

+ Bachelors Degree minimum

+ 5+ years of related experience working with some of these technologies:

+ Enterprise tools such as Application Performance Monitoring, log analytics

+ Databases: Oracle, Couchbase, MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres

+ Operating Systems: Linux, Windows, UNIX

+ Automation experience with Python or similar programming/scripting languages

+ Strong analytical, data driven decision making and problem solving with attention to details

+ Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills


+ Public cloud: Azure (preferred), AWS

+ Applications/Middleware: Nginx, Apache http, Tomcat, Messaging Queues

+ Experience with Agile, Scrum or SAFe; Atlassian suite (Confluence, JIRA)

+ Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes
