**Job Summary**

We are currently recruiting for a Bridge Engineer to join our growing team in Dublin.

AECOM is an award winning Bridges & Structures engineering design consultant developing an enviable reputation of excellence over the past 50 years. We have experience in the design of all forms of bridge structures from simple slab bridges, through box girder bridges to large arches, cable-stayed and suspension bridges. We offer an integrated multi-disciplinary service which ranges from design of new bridges to inspection, assessment and strengthening of existing structures, in both the Highways and Railway Sector.

The Ireland Bridge team are currently involved in a number of exciting and important Irish transportation projects and also provide design support a number of high profile international projects such as the Northern Hub a Design & Build with Skanska Construction UK Ltd which will improve rail connectivity in the greater Manchester area and is valued at over €1 billion construction costs.

Further projects carried out by our Bridges team in Ireland include;

AECOM is commissioned by The Department for Infrastructure to provide consultancy services in the Scheme Assessment of the corridor options for the Newry Southern Relief Road(NSRR). The NSRR proposal is to provide a direct link between the A1/N1 Belfast to Dublin Road and the A2 to Warrenpoint. The NSRR scheme will require a number of structures including an opening structure which crosses the Newry River/Canal.

A6 Randalstown to Castledawson scheme is currently on site and the bridges team is currently providing supervision along with our colleagues in the highways team

AECOM are currently preparing a study to investigate the feasibility of a cantilever structure supported on the existing Thomas Clarke Bridge and other potential solutions to address the needs of pedestrians and cyclist travelling across the River Liffey in Dublin City Centre for Dublin City Council.

AECOM provided the reference design and client representative role for Broadstone Gate Stop as part of TII LUAS Cross- City contract. The structures included a two-span overbridge spanning the proposed LUAS Cross-City Line and pedestrian access to Grangegorman/DIT campus and 4No. major retaining structures within a very constraint urban site.

Dublin City Council commissioned AECOM, to undertake a Post-Tensioned Special Inspection of Talbot Memorial Bridge and Special Inspection of Butt Bridge, both located in Dublin city centre. The works included visual inspections, development of detailed intrusive investigation plans, structural investigation supervision and lifecycle modelling for both bridges

AECOM carried out the detailed design of Strabane Footbridge is a new 100m span cable stayed, steel/concrete composite deck, supported by an inclined arch pylon, which carries pedestrians and cyclist over the River Mourne in the heart of Strabane Town Centre.

Lagan Weir Footbridge is 120m-long and 8m wide, comprising of five continuous spans of approximately 25m. Rolled steel hollow sections were specified for their appearance and durability and the location of the bridge required a lightweight, easily constructed structure. AECOM were the lead designer for the project and had taken it from concept design through detailed design, tender phase and construction stage.

The multi award winning Peace Bridge in Derry is an example which AECOM was commissioned to carry out a feasibility study considering the technical, environmental and operational constraints of the bridge and a new rail station.

The bridge team have also delivered a number recent Design & Build tenders both major highways and bridge projects within Ireland and AECOM have teamed up with a Contractor who are currently the preferred tenderer for a major Design & Build Highway scheme in Ireland.

As a Bridge Engineer you will have the following daily responsibilities:

* Assist with the development of design concepts, carrying out detailed design where appropriate.

* Produce detailed design information including calculations and design sketches.

* Liaise with CAD Technician for production of drawings.

* Plan and carry out site inspections of structures.

* Prepare technical reports.

* Carry out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety file.

* Assist with fee proposals.

* Analysis and detailed design of road/rail bridges and other structures.

* Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures.

* Report writing and production of technical reports and documents.

**Minimum Requirements**

The following will be required for this role:

* Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.

* Ideally educated to MSc level or equivalent.

* Graduate member of ICE or IstructE, and on route to gaining Chartered status.

* Relevant experience in design of bridges and other transportation structures.

* Relevant experience in inspection and assessment of bridges and other transportation structures.
