Position Description:

The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) Installation Services is responsible for ensuring that Home Depot Design Center remodel projects run on time, on budget and meet our high customer standards. This role must have an in-depth understanding of construction procedures and project management principles.  Their primary responsibilities include oversight of a field team of operations and installation management specialist who oversee small to large size remodel and installation jobs.  This job requires maintaining relationships with a network of service providers and oversight of projects.  This can include ensuring projects are appropriately scoped and bids are reviewed for accuracy, including ensuring local codes and permits are in compliance, ensuring schedules stay on track, and evaluating service provider work to ensure company standards are met.   This role must have a strong focus on customer service and an understanding of how to quickly resolve customer issues.


The ASM will also be responsible for their direct reports regarding recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, professional development, and disciplinary actions.


Major Tasks and Key Responsibilities

30% Team Management and Training

  • Oversees a team of Installation Management Specialists managing kitchen, bath, and other design remodels
  • Trains Installation Management Specialists on construction and best-in-class project management techniques, including how to deal with unforeseen changes
  • Works closely with Installation Management Specialist to conduct weekly portfolio reviews and ensure projects are being carefully managed and are staying on time
  • Works with additional team members including designers, techs, specialists, customer service agents to understand total remodel process to ensure successful execution of projects

    30% Project Management

    • Works with service providers to understand their processes and how Installation Management Specialists can work with them to provide highest levels of customer service
    • Works in the field, in and around various properties to ensure successful management of remodel jobs
    • Coordinates service provider work scopes and scheduling for select jobs
    • Manages large scale projects as necessary
    • Conducts walk through inspections to create punch list items to be completed and ensure quality control

      30% Customer Service and Sales

      • Reviews labor bids to ensure accurate scope and provides feedback and negotiates as necessary
      • Meets with designers and customers to understand scope of projects and explain detailed labor bids
      • Resolves customer complaints, follows up with customers, and works with service providers to ensure customer satisfaction
      • Understands local network of contractors; Meets with service providers to understand industry and capabilities as well as competitor offerings
      • Provides accurate, swift resolution of escalated customer issues

        10% Self Development

        • Proactively seeks knowledge on all HDDC products, services and trends
        • Routinely develops skills in related areas of expertise, including maintaining all necessary certifications
        • Maintains understanding of local market including coding and permitting process
        • Stays abreast of daily, weekly, monthly sales reports
