**Job Summary**

AECOM's Transportation Business Unit is actively seeking a creative, innovative, and highly motivated mid-level Traffic/ITS Engineer for immediate employment in the Austin, TX office. Work will consist of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and design and traffic engineering analysis and design. Successful candidates will be expected to work independently and in teams to advance projects through client processes.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Agency coordination

+ Planning

+ ITS architecture development

+ ITS Concepts of Operation

+ Systems engineering analysis

+ Design and construction plan development

+ Preparation of specifications, quantities, estimates, and traffic impact studies

+ Traffic analysis software and simulation modeling

+ Traffic signal design

+ Preparation of technical reports

+ Project meeting support

+ Other duties as required

Projects may involve:

1. Advanced and emerging technology / ITS devices / innovative solutions

2. Interstate/Urban/Rural highways

3. Work Zone ITS applications

4. ITS Specifications Development

5. Other transportation facilities

6. Microstation, AutoCAD and GIS modeling

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or related field

+ 2+ years of experience in ITS planning/design and traffic engineering

+ Ability to take increasing responsibility for task/project management and desire to grow technical skills and innovations

+ Ability to communicate with clients regarding ITS/Traffic Engineering design

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills

+ Good computer skills using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Must possess a valid driver’s license

+ Occasional travel during the day or evenings to project sites, client meetings, and other AECOM offices as required

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ 4+ years of relevant work experience

+ PE licensed or ability to obtain within 6 months

+ Experience with the State Department of Transportation

+ Previous experience with the ITS Systems Engineering process

+ Previous experience with traffic engineering software
