Job Description

We are currently seeking a Sustainable Design Specialist to join our San Francisco practice.  As a Sustainable Design Specialist, you are responsible for managing green building certification and environmental quality management for planning, architecture, and interiors projects. Contribute to marketing pursuits, participate in sustainability consulting series, and manage environmental certification of projects.


  • Support LEED Project Administration, sustainability consulting services and project management, proposal preparation, and compliance reporting.
  • Consult with multiple internal design teams on LEED, WELL and sustainable projects.
  • Assist clients, planners, architects, designers, engineers and contractors with sustainable design implementation.
  • Projects will include LEED-NC, LEED-EBOM, LEED-CI, LEED-HC, and WELL. Projects will also include development of sustainable design and operations guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate on firmwide sustainable design and consulting projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee and support an internal program to research and advance sustainable materials and construction.
  • Support sustainable design education program, including LEED AP and WELL AP credentialing and credential maintenance.
  • Implement office green operations plan.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Mentors team members.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
Required Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of sustainability, building science, integrated design and LEED, WELL, and LBC rating systems.
  • Proven presentation and communication skills to both team and client.
  • Experience with management of team/resources to undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and information and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in team environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop, Revit, Sketch-Up, Rhino and/or related software.
  • Experience and skills relating to energy and environmental performance: Conceptual Energy Modeling; Daylight Analysis; Renewable Energy Systems and feasibility analysis preferred.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or sustainable design required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • LEED AP with specialty required.
