**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Rail Engineer for immediate employment for the Portland, OR office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

+ Actively work on urban passenger rail design for Mainline, yards, industrial tracks, intermodal, light rail and Streetcar track design projects

+ Management of the track design process through the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.

+ Preparation of the design briefs, technical reports, design analysis and calculations.

+ Calculation of quantities, preparation of cost estimates, project specifications and construction documents.

+ Provide technical direction to junior designers and oversee work undertaken by junior staff.

+ Working with Project Managers on developing design schedule and budgets.

+ Participation in the preparation of proposals and other strategic initiatives.

+ Interaction with clients and transportation agencies on a regular basis.

+ Conducting the periodic trackwork inspection.

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's Degree.

+ 10+ years’ experience in urban passenger rail and track engineering and complex, multi-discipline rail transit projects.

+ PE Registration.

+ Must have a strong technical understanding of urban passenger rail design for Mainline, yards, industrial tracks, intermodal and transload facilities, special trackwork, ballasted and non-ballasted track and associated grading and drainage.

+ Experience in commuter and light rail transit projects.

+ Ability to supervise more junior staff and coordinate production workload.

+ Ability to work in fast paced environment, meet the deadlines and budget targets.

+ Ability to work independently on projects and communicate potential issues with respect to scheduling, budget or progress; and identify the change orders.

+ Strong knowledge of AREMA, urban passenger rail and Light Rail Transit design and construction requirements.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Preferred Software experience - AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microstation and Inroads a **What We Offer**
